Epirus IS THE origin of Greece
The term "Graikoi" (Γραικοί) was originally the name of a small tribe near Dodona in Epirus.
Aristotle (Meteorologica I.14) says:
«Οἱ περὶ τὴν Δωδώνην καὶ τὸν Ἀχελῷον πρώτοι Ἑλλήνων, Γραικοὶ δ’ ἐκαλοῦντο τότε.»
“Those around Dodona and the Achelous were the first of the Hellenes, and at that time they were called Graikoi.” He speaks of the rites of the ‘aged ones’ around the temple of Dodona.
ΓΡΑΙΚΟΙ is a word that means “old” or “aged”, linked to γραῖα (graia) which means “the old woman” or “the wise elder”. This is the reason why the location of Graecia/Graeci in 16th-century cartography does not include Morea (the Peloponnese or the Pelasgian Argos).
